Gastric Sleeve Surgery or Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy
The Gastric Sleeve Surgery is bariatric surgical procedure whose main objective is to reduce a patient´s amount of food intake. This is achieved by removing up to 80% of the patient´s stomach to the size of a banana, which will foster weight loss by reducing appetite alongside other healthy habits. A patient will have fewer appetite thanks to a substantial decrease of the gastric volume and due to a moderate decrease of the ghrelin hormone. This procedure is ideal for patients with a BMI of 30 and above.

Gastric Bypass Surgery or Roux-en-Y
The Gastric Bypass Surgery is a well known bariatric surgical procedure that reroutes the stomach and creates two sections or pouches. A small upper portion of the stomach is connected directly to the lower intestine which allows food to skip the other parts of the stomach and the upper part of the small intestine. This will make the patient to feel full much sooner, thus helping with weight loss as fewer calories will be absorbed. Ideal for patients with a BMI of over 40, acid reflux or diabetic.

Mini Gastric Bypass
The Mini Gastric Bypass surgery is similar but less invasive than the traditional Gastric Bypass surgery. Rather than having a small pouch, this procedure creates slightly bigger pouch similar to a narrow tube which will limit the amount of food that can be taken at the same time. The small intestine is then attached to this pouch which will help food to bypass parts of the stomach and some portion of the small intestine allowing for weight loss by absorbing less nutrients, calories and fats from food and fluids. Patients with moderate to severe acid reflux should consider the traditional bypass surgery.

Hernia Repairs
Some hernias (mainly hiatal) can be repaired at the time of your weight loss surgery. Many patients do not know if they have a hernia, so it is best to consult whether you have a hernia or not. Some studies, like an endoscopy are very helpful in determining if there is a hernia and if it needs to be repaired. A hernia may cause acid reflux in a patient.
